Methodology
How the calculator estimates Etsy profit
The calculator treats one order as a simple revenue, cost, and fee model. All inputs are editable so you can adapt the estimate to your country, currency, product type, and current Etsy policies.
Core formula
Revenue = selling price + shipping charged to customer
Base costs = item/material cost + packaging cost + shipping cost paid by seller
Estimated fees = listing fee + transaction fee + payment processing fee + fixed payment fee + ad/offsite ad fee
Net profit = revenue - base costs - estimated fees
Profit margin = net profit ÷ revenue
Target price estimates the listing price needed to reach your selected margin after fixed costs and percentage fees.
Assumptions and limitations
What this calculator does not know
- It does not import seller statements, tax records, refunds, coupons, VAT/GST, currency conversion, reserves, subscriptions, listing renewals beyond the entered listing fee, or multi-item order allocation.
- Payment processing and regulatory fees can vary by country and payment method. Default US-style values are examples, not guarantees.
- Offsite Ads can apply differently depending on seller eligibility and order source. Use the preset buttons for quick comparison, then confirm against your own Etsy data.
- The Pricing Assistant is rule-based. It does not use AI, market demand data, competitor pricing, or conversion-rate forecasts.

Are the Etsy fee defaults exact?
